With the widespread adoption of lightweight AR glasses, there is a growing need for wearable input interfaces that allow subtle, continuous operation in any environment. However, ring-shaped devices are physically constrained to tiny batteries, and conventional wireless technologies like BLE consume excessive power during continuous transmission, limiting operation to just a few hours and requiring frequent charging. This study addresses the challenge of achieving drastic power savings in miniature devices while maintaining a practical communication range. We propose “picoRing mouse,” which utilizes magnetic field backscatter communication enhanced by a high-sensitivity coil with distributed capacitors and a balanced bridge circuit to extend the ring-to-wristband communication range. This approach extends the communication distance by approximately 2.1 times and achieves ultra-low power consumption of maximum 449 uW, enabling 600–1000 hours of continuous use on a single 27 mAh battery charge. These results provide an “always-available” input method free from the burden of frequent charging, significantly improving the daily usability of AR glasses and contributing to the advancement of low-power wearable communications.
